Experience

My diverse level of experience makes my work unique. Having worked and travelled all over the world with the Royal Canadian Navy gave me an unparalleled view of the world. I have sailed in the Caribbean, the near Arctic, the Mediterranean, and along the shores of North Africa. Through these travels I have seen some of the best and worst elements of humanity. Training as a journalist, I learned how to navigate interviews and data to tell the best possible stories about people and their struggles. Now, as an academic, I have combined all of that experience to get at the heart of issues in Crown assertions of sovereignty, tensions between Indigenous and Canadian legal orders, and Crown treaty responsibilities.
